The Outdoor Code

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent

As an American, I will do my best to be clean in my outdoor manners, be careful with fire, be considerate in the outdoors, be conservation minded.

Youth can join Scouts BSA if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st;


OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old,


OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.

1. Youth Protection training (YPT) is a mandatory requirement for all BSA registered volunteers and must be completed prior to joining any scouting events.

2. Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If an adult volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.
